Tales of Kailani

Welcome to Tales of Kailani, a fantasy TTRPG Setting inspired by South East Asia (SEA) and Pacific Island (PI) cultures. The setting exploers the many islands of Kailani, where the stars in the sky meets with the horizon of the ocean. The people often believe they are children of the stars and water, and worship and celebrate their three core gods: Ma-Ona, the mother of the ocean, her sister Sa-Ona, the mother of stars, and O-Pau, Ma-Ona's husband, the father of home and hearth.

This setting is designed to be compatible with DND and Pathfinder in mind, but those who are clever may find use in other TTRPG systems.

We take the familiar races and vibes of traditional DnD and retextualize them in this new islander setting. Real world cultures have been studied to give enthusiastic roleplayers am authetinc breath of fresh air away from typical European forests and castles, and instead offers an islander lifestyle full of friendly faces, megafauana dangers, and dark secrets that lurk underneath the detphs of the ocean waves.

The writer is an avid roleplayer who has found the repetitive use of a Medival Europe backdrop to now be a bit boring, and wishes to emphasize other cultures they do not see often enough. Authentic representation of cultures less in the spotlot is important. If you like what you see, please consider donating to the creator's Ko-Fi for more frequent updates and a chance to see the next setting, Tales of Sanjivneet, become alive as well.

The following is a work-in-progress list of currently worked on potentially playable and non-playable races. Unfortunately, there are no dragonborn in this setting. They have been instead replaced with unique lizardfolk with a variety of morphs/traits for player customization.
