Na-O

There was once only a single star in the sky. So vast was the darkness, and she felt very alone. Sa-Ona, the mother of the stars, separated herself into many pieces to light up the sky. But while there was only light, she saw only her own face looking back at her. She could not help but to weep, and the stars wept with her.

Her tears formed the ocean, and from the ocean a face rose to the surface. This face opened its eyes, and Sa-Ona could see that it was different than her own. The watery figure rose from the sea and smiled at her. Sa-Ona knew this to be Ma-Ona, mother of the ocean. As the two embraced, Ma-Ona felt something at her hip. She looked down, and pulled out a rock. However, that rock extended into a hand, and an entire person made of mud came out. As it was exposed to Sa-Ona's light, the body hardened. Cracks appeared on its face as it smiled at the two women, and they knew this to be O-Pau, father of home and hearth.

O-Pau used the mud from his body to create vessels. Sa-Ona then placed in each one some stardust, which warmed them from the inside out. Once sealed, Ma-Ona dipped them into her waters, turning the hardened earth back into malleable mud.

O-Pau became tired, and laid down upon Ma-Ona's bosom and became so comfortable he did not get up. His body created the islands, and Ma-Ona's waters fertilized them, giving them life and plenty. The veseels became humans and the other living races in the islands, which humans called Kailani, the place where the stars of the sky and the horizon of the ocean meet.

Preview: Ashara Religion

At the beginning of time, there was just one god, called the All. The All is omniscient and omnipotent, and set out to create worlds for which people to live in. However, the first world it made, it was too perfect. There was no suffering, no death, but also there was something... missing. The All could not quite figure it out, so it split itself into 7 pieces, purposefully breaking up its power so it couldn't fix things how it wanted, allowing life to grow on all of the pieces of its body to study how life would grow without its influence.

After about a millennium, it merged itself back together again. Unfortunately, since it lost its omniscience, it did not realize that by doing so, reemerging would kill all the life that was living on its body. Seeing that the life was now ruined, the All felt sorrow. It knew what had gone wrong. The world it had built was too perfect. For there to be true joy, there sadly needed to be true suffering. Otherwise the lives that existed would not be authentic. Recognizing its mistakes, it tried its experiment again, splitting into 7 realms once again.

But here is where the story changes. Here, the religion splits into two Sects.

The first Sect believes that the All has no plans for the future, and will remain split into 7 realms. Some of this sect tends to be more materialistic, and pride in the concept of settling down and establishing history.

The second Sect believes that the All will once again merge at some point in the future, and this future could be as recent as tomorrow. They believe that one must live every day being true to themselves, with as little hold over materialistic possessions as possible. Possession of land and other people are looked down upon.

Those truly dedicated to the Sect are wanderers with little possession other than a weapon to defend themselves and others, often blessed by a monk at an Asharan temple.
